Motorola is finally bringing the GSM version of the Droid 2 to Europe. UK will be among the first markets (after Germany) to get Moto’s highly desirable smartphone and folks there will even get it with Android 2.2 Froyo pre-installed, which is a cool touch.
The price is set at 379.99 GBP which is about $605. Kinda steep, but then again this is the price of an unlocked, SIM free device requiring no carrier contracts. All you have to do is pop your existing (or new) SIM card in the Milestone 2 and you’re ready to go.
As for the carrier deals, we’ve spotted Expansys is selling the smartphone with Vodafone contracts, giving its customers the ability to pay zero pennies upfront as long as they commit on a two-year long 30 GBP a month contract.
Specs wise, the Milestone 2 comes with a 3.7-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen, side-sliding QWERTY keyboard, HSPA and WiFi connectivity, GPS, 1GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus and HD video recording capability, 3.5mm headset jack and a microSD memory card slot.
